India assumed the BRICS presidency in 2026 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, at a time of heightened uncertainty in global geopolitics, trade, and investment. Expectations are high, but challenges are also immense.

In this backdrop, Chintan Research Foundation is pleased to convene a focused roundtable on Wednesday, 21 May 2026 (1500–1800 hrs), titled “BRICS Rising: India’s Strategic Presidency”, to be held at Onyx Hall, The Grand, New Delhi.

This presidency can credibly be framed as an opportunity to bring the Global South under a common geopolitical umbrella, stabilise and deepen trade and investment ties within BRICS+, and generate positive spillovers for the global trading system.

The roundtable aims to explore how India’s BRICS presidency can be leveraged to unlock fresh momentum in geopolitics and geoeconomics among the BRICS+ partners. The discussions will be structured over two consecutive sessions, focusing on geopolitical and geoeconomic dimensions, respectively.
