In the wake of Bangladesh’s political, economic, and social transition following the 2024 mass uprising and the establishment of an interim caretaker government, the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF) convened a roundtable discussion titled “Improving India–Bangladesh Relations” on 28 January 2026. The discussion brought together scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and members of India’s strategic community to examine pathways for strengthening bilateral ties amid evolving domestic and regional dynamics. The roundtable featured an expert address by Lt Gen Kamal Davar, alongside contributions from Ambassador Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty and Ambassador Riva Ganguly Das, former Indian High Commissioners to Bangladesh. Additional insights were offered by leading experts on the subject, including Prof. Sreeradha Datta, Prof. Sanjay K. Bhardwaj, Mr. Shantanu Mukarji, and Col. Jasbir Singh. The deliberations focused on practical recommendations to enhance bilateral cooperation in 2026, emphasising sustained engagement, sensitivity to Bangladesh’s internal dynamics, and a forward-looking, multidimensional approach.
