Chintan Research Foundation (CRF) convened a closed-door roundtable discussion on “India–Bangladesh Relations: Recalibrating Bilateral Partnership in Times of Transition,” bringing together scholars, practitioners, academics, policymakers, and members of India’s strategic and defence community to examine the evolving and recalibrated contours of New Delhi’s engagement with Dhaka. The session featured expert remarks by Amb. Anil Trigunayat, Maj Gen. J.S.Nanda, Prof. Sreeradha Datta, Dr. Smruti Pattanaik, Brig. Rahul Bhonsle, Prof. Medha Bisht, Nayanima Basu, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bhattacharjee, and Jayanta Roy Chowdhury.

The discussion examined Bangladesh’s evolving domestic political landscape, as the country marks two years since the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power. The roundtable underlined the need for a pragmatic, broad-based and forward-looking approach to India–Bangladesh relations, with an emphasis on strengthening trust, sustaining cooperation and engaging with diverse political and social constituencies in Bangladesh.

Through this discussion, CRF sought to contribute to a deeper understanding of Bangladesh’s ongoing political transition and its implications for India’s neighbourhood policy.
