The State of State Finances: Fiscal Federalism, Fiscal Space and Debt Sustainability

Chintan Research Foundation (CRF) is organising a roundtable titled “The State of State Finances: Fiscal Federalism, Fiscal Space and Debt Sustainability” on 30 October 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event will bring together experts from government, academia, research institutions and industry to discuss challenges confronting state finances in India. Discussions will focus on fiscal federalism, intergovernmental transfers, revenue mobilisation, expenditure priorities, debt sustainability, borrowing frameworks and fiscal transparency, with the aim of identifying approaches to strengthening states’ fiscal autonomy and long-term financial stability.
