India and Its Neighbourhood in the Eyes of Russia
The relationship between India and Russia is designated as a ‘Special and Privileged’ Strategic Partnership. This partnership has stood the test of time since Cold War times. The Ukraine War of 2022 is a testament to the strong partnership between the two countries. Despite the churning global order, the two countries are traversing this difficult path by closely working with each other. Its multifaceted relationship helps in bringing stability to the world order and to the multilateral platforms.
India and Russia have a good understanding between both as it reflects on their respective and individual bilateral dealings with other countries. They keep each other’s security concerns and interests in mind while engaging with different partners, bilaterally and multilaterally. India inhabits a challenging strategic environment in its neighbourhood, and for the India-Russia partnership to move to the next level, it is imperative to have greater mutual understanding on India’s neighbourhood.
In this context, CRF deems it imperative to convene a webinar, involving some of the best scholars from Russia to share their views and perspectives on how Russia sees India’s neighbourhood. Such a webinar will provide valuable policy roadmaps for India-Russia engagements pertaining to the bilateral relationship and multilateral ties.
