Conference on Macroeconomic Policies for Viksit Bharat @ 2047
Conference on Macroeconomic Policies for Viksit Bharat @ 2047
India stands at a pivotal moment in its economic journey. As the nation approaches the centenary of Independence in 2047, the vision of Viksit Bharat, a developed, inclusive, resilient, and globally competitive India, calls for a re-examination of the macroeconomic policy framework that will guide growth over the next two decades. Achieving sustained high growth, macroeconomic stability, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability will require coherent, forward-looking fiscal and monetary policies anchored in strong institutions and evidence-based decision-making.
In recent years, India has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of global shocks, including the pandemic, geopolitical disruptions, and financial tightening across advanced economies. However, the evolving domestic and global context, characterised by climate risks, technological disruption, demographic transitions, and shifting global value chains, presents new challenges as well as opportunities for macroeconomic management.
Against this backdrop, the Conference on Macroeconomic Policies for Viksit Bharat @ 2047 seeks to provide a high-level platform for rigorous dialogue among leading policymakers, economists, and practitioners. The conference aims to critically examine India’s fiscal and monetary policy frameworks and explore how they can be recalibrated to support long-term development goals while preserving macroeconomic stability.
