Dr. Anchita Borthakur holds a PhD from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her primary area of research is South Asia, with a particular focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan. She completed her M.Phil. From the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies, University of Calcutta, where she was the recipient of the M.Phil. Research Fellowship issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Anchita has completed her Master's in South Asian Studies under the South Asia Foundation Scholarship awarded by SAF (an Apex body of SAARC).
Anchita has published extensively on Afghanistan-Pakistan region in several reputed peer-reviewed International/national journals including in the Journal of Royal Society for Asian Affairs (Routledge), The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs (Routledge), Asian Journal of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (Routledge), Orient: The German Journal for Politics, Economics, and Culture of the Middle East, World Focus, etc. She has also presented her research work in several international conferences, including at SOAS, University of London, Copenhagen University, George Mason University, University of Cologne, Philipps University Marburg, Russian Armenian University, Roma Tre University, European International Studies Association, etc. Before this, Dr. Anchita was a Project Fellow at the Centre for Studies in International Relations and Development (CSIRD), Kolkata, and a Research Associate at the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), New Delhi. She was also an honorary research fellow in the Centre for Afghanistan Studies at O.P. Jindal University.
