Rupa Dutta

Rupa Dutta is a distinguished Indian Economic Service officer (1986 batch) with extensive expertise in economic policy, trade strategy, and public administration. Formerly Principal Economic Adviser at DPIIT, she led policy initiatives to boost manufacturing and coordinated G20/BRICS engagements for India@2047. She later served as Senior Adviser, heading the G20 Cell, and thereafter advised Exim Bank on MSME exports, cluster development, and gems & jewelry. Presently, Rupa is engaged as Distinguished Fellow with the Chintan Research Foundation focusing on trade and economics related subject matters. Through her four decades long career, she has represented India at global forums on trade, SDGs, and gender development. A JNU doctoral scholar, she combines academic depth with leadership shaping India’s economic and social policy.
